GreyRock ("we," "us," or "our") operates the GreyRock mobile application and website at greyrockdad.com ("the Service"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information about you when you use the Service.
By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information: If you create an account (required only for cloud backup), we collect your email address.
- App entries: Incident logs, notes, verbatim quotes, and other documentation you create in the app. This data is stored locally on your device by default.
- Contact form submissions: If you contact us via the website contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message.
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data: We collect minimal anonymous usage analytics (page views, feature usage frequency) to understand how the app is used. This data does not identify you personally.
- Purchase information: Subscription purchases are processed by the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google). We receive confirmation of purchase status but do not receive your payment card information.
- Crash reports: If the app crashes, we may receive a crash report that includes device type, OS version, and the state of the app at the time of the crash. No personal data is included in crash reports.
2. How We Use Your Information

- To verify Pro subscription status
- To respond to contact form submissions and support requests
- To improve the app and website based on usage patterns
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, backup notifications) — we do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent
3. Data Storage and Security
Local Storage (Free Plan)
All incident logs, notes, and documentation you create in the app are stored locally on your device. We do not transmit this data to our servers unless you enable cloud backup (Pro feature). If you uninstall the app or lose your device, your data is lost. We strongly recommend enabling cloud backup.
Cloud Backup (Pro)
If you enable cloud backup, your data is encrypted on your device using AES-256 encryption before transmission. Only you hold the decryption key — GreyRock cannot read your backed-up data. Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure in the United States.
AI Reply Feature (Pro)
When you use the AI reply drafting feature, the text you paste into the app is transmitted to our secure server, which forwards it to a third-party AI provider (such as OpenAI) to generate a reply. We do not store the text you submit for AI processing beyond the time required to generate the response. The AI provider's privacy policy governs their handling of the data.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: We use third-party providers for cloud storage, AI processing, and analytics. These providers are contractually required to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
- Business transfers: If GreyRock is acquired or merges with another company, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before this occurs.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Export your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent for data processing where consent is the legal basis
